The castle was completely destroyed in the Second World War in 1945, then reconstructed with a 3D-painted façade complete with flaps. 

In this context, a brief look at Walter Pehlemann from Stuttgart as director of the local Beton- und Monierbau AG. This company was extensively involved in the construction of tunnels and railroad facilities for the Bruchsal - Stuttgart Western Railway (and its later operators), which was of great civilian and military importance as a rail link and with the Bruchsal railroad junction. On March 1, 1945, two waves of 116 Allied bombers completely destroyed the entire railroad junction and the old town of Bruchsal within 45 minutes, and 80% of the entire town was destroyed. Not much was left of the construction work carried out there by Beton- und Monierbau AG, to which director Walter Pehlemann belonged...
